Program Overview
- Who Can Play: Players in Grades 3–8
- Seasons: Fall & Spring
- Games: Saturdays (home and away vs. other Massachusetts towns)
- Practices: 1–2 evenings per week (schedule set by coach)
- Focus: Player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a competitive setting
League & Affiliations
MYS is affiliated with the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) and participates in the Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) League.
Teams are placed in BAYS divisions based on skill level and past performance to ensure fair, competitive play.
Player Evaluations & Team Placement
Each year, travel teams are formed based on player evaluations to create balanced teams of similar ability.
Evaluation Process Includes:
- Blind Evaluations – independent assessments of player skill
- Coach Evaluations – feedback from your player’s current coach
- Game Evaluations – review of performance during regular play
Team Announcements:
- Fall Teams: Announced in summer before the season
- Spring Teams: Announced in mid-March
BAYS Placement:
Teams are placed in divisions by the
BAYS Placement Committee, based on recommendations from the MYS Travel Committee and team history.
Adjustments may be made mid-season if a team’s placement is not a good fit.
Uniforms & Equipment
Required Equipment:
- Official Travel Uniform: jersey, shorts, and socks
- Note: You must receive a player number from the Equipment Director before ordering
- Shin guards (mandatory)
- Soccer cleats or sneakers (no metal cleats)
- Proper-size soccer ball (labeled with player’s name)
- Water bottle (labeled with player’s name)
- No jewelry of any kind
- Soft hair accessories only

- Complete the CORI background check and all required MYSA training modules
