Road Team Tryout Results
First of all we would like to thank everyone for their participation in tryouts this year. The players all played well and have been developing nicely as young soccer players, and we encourage them to continue working on their own skills and as importantly continue to have fun playing the game of soccer. There may be “pick-up” soccer occurring during the month of August check the website in early August for details.
TRYOUT PROCESS:
Tryouts were held toward the end of the ongoing spring season, with all players encouraged to attend on their age groups particular evening so that they would be able to be assessed/evaluated playing with their peers. The raters were looking at each players abilities including tactical, technical, offensive and defensive to give each player an overall “grade”.
TEAM SELECTION:
Teams were put together based on the tryouts evaluation as well as the evaluation done by their previous years’ coach, and a “live” game evaluation. The coach’s evaluation was based on a whole of the “20 game season” (fall and spring). The younger age groups teams were “balanced” or having a blended level of “talent” and scores. The older age groups were placed together with players of similar skill and “talent”. As you look at your child’s placement it is possible that in your eyes we have made a mistake, but please be assured that our process is fair and taken very seriously. Also please keep in mind that as a volunteer run organization we did the best we could using all the resources at our disposal to properly place every child on the appropriate team. Also remember that our children are continuously growing and changing as people as well as soccer players. With that, there is expected movement of personnel from year to year at every level. The coach selection process is done after the teams are formulated.
LEAGUE PLAY:
Mansfield Youth Soccer participates in the BAYS (Boston Area Youth Soccer) League. The League determines who will play whom based on placement request and placement of each town. So until the schedule comes out at the end of the summer we will not know whom our opponents will be. Some will be as close as Foxboro and some may be as for away as Acton Boxboro. BAYS game are played on Saturday with the girls generally starting before noon, with the boys starting times being after 1:00
PLAYER CONTACT:
Each coach will contact players by the middle of August. Games will start the beginning of September with teams having limited practice time before to get ready for the upcoming year. Your coach will give you specifics when you are contacted. Have a safe and fun filled summer and remember the “game” is about the kids.
