11th Annual Columbus Day Cup
October 6th-8th, 2012
Mansfield, Massachusetts

Dear Coach,

On behalf of the Mansfield Tournament Committee, we welcome you to the 11th Annual Columbus Day Cup. This year’s tournament is presented by our lead sponsor, EASTON POOLS AND SPA. After months of planning and preparation, we are looking forward to an excellent tournament. We will have more than 115 teams in our tournament this year, representing over 26 different towns.

General Information

All teams U10 and under are classified as non-competitive and all participants will be awarded a participation trophy. No scores or standings will be posted for this age group per Mass Youth Soccer tournament hosting rules.  Please remember after your last game of the day, to stop by and pick up your team trophies. All U12 and U14 teams are classified as competitive, and Championship T-Shirts will be awarded to the finalists (2) in each division. The Boys games will be played on Saturday, October 6th and the Girls games will be played on Sunday, October 7th (unless your girls team has been notified by the tournament directors that play will take place on Saturday, October 6th).  All playoff games for U12 boys and girls will be played on Monday, October 8th. This is a patch tournament, so if at all possible please bring an adequate supply of team patches to exchange.  U10 coaches should bring a maximum of 15 patches per game, U12 and U14 coaches should bring a maximum of 18 patches per game.

3.   Dogs are NOT allowed at the Plymouth Street Soccer Complex. Anyone who brings a dog will not be permitted into the complex.

4.   Gas, propane or other cooking grills or any open fires are not permitted at the Plymouth Street Complex-BY ORDER OF THE TOWN OF MANSFIELD.

Field Maps

Quick tip for field locations:  Fields 1 thru 4 will be on the front section of the complex (synthetic turf section). Fields 21-23 will be in the center field section (side of concession stand).  Fields 31-33 will be the far back fields. Tent icons indicate campsite locations.

Parking and Directions

All games will be played at our Plymouth Street Complex. Like many tournaments and for safety reasons, there is limited parking at the Plymouth Street fields. Parking is available along Plymouth Street. Please drive extremely carefully as there will be over 1,000 young players in attendance over the weekend and allow yourself and your players plenty of time to reach the playing fields. Field maps and directions are posted on our website. GPS address of the field is 50 Plymouth Street, Mansfield. The gate to our Plymouth Street Complex will not open until 7:00am.  Please note you will not be allowed into the complex until 7:00am.

PLEASE NOTE: Parking is NOT allowed at any of the businesses near and around our Plymouth Street Complex. Police will take notice and your car will be towed at your own expense.

Campsite Setup

As always, we encourage teams to setup “campsites” for the day, which allow the parents and kids to enjoy the full tournament experience. Please be courteous and adhere to the areas we have designated for camp setup. Look for the tent icon the field map for the best location to set up in. Please do not walk on any areas that have signs posted to keep off.

Activities & Amenities

We will be providing concessions, hot dogs, hamburgers, snacks and beverages throughout the day at our concession stands. Please relax in our picnic area between games. New this year, Easton Pool and Spa will host a team scavenger hunt as well as an onsite photo booth (details are included in your coach’s packet). In addition there will be an onsite photographer where immediate photos can be purchased. We will be raffling off an EXTENSIVE ASSORTMENT OF EXCITING PRIZES throughout the day(s).  On Saturday we will host Slyde from New England Revolution. Sunday Matt Reis, starting goalie from the New England Revolution will be available for pictures and Kelyn Rowe, starting player from the New England Revolution will be available on Monday to sign autographs and present awards.  More details on activities can be found on the tournament book.

Finally, please remember that this event, like all of youth soccer, is for the kids. We are pleased that you have decided to join us and we are very proud to host this tournament. We are looking forward to some great soccer action.

Sincerely,

Karen Goulet and Kelly Kemp
