Special Olympics gets a
boost from Mansfield Youth Soccer and Mansfield Bank
Mansfield Youth Soccer recently donated approximately 35 soccer uniforms to
the Special Olympics program. The brainchild of soccer player and soccer mom
Darlene Menz, this was the first but not the last, time MYS 'passed back'
uniforms. "MYS was switching uniforms, and rather than have the old ones go
to waste or sit in the bottom of our kids' drawers, we decided to collect
them to pass along. The kids love it; now they've got real uniforms to
wear," said Menz. Mansfield Bank gave a grant to the Special Olympics as
well to support their athletic program. Two Special Olympics teams from
Mansfield recently went to the state tournament and both teams did quite
well, winning bronze and silver medals.
