So let's Celebrate!
The third annual Marathon Soccer Game (Soccer-Thon) will be held early in the fall 2010 season on the NEW TURF FIELD. The game will be merged with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the project and the day will be a wonderful celebration for Mansfield Youth Soccer and the Mansfield community. The game will be structured as it has been in the past but with an added twist of a ribbon ceremony to kick off the game. We will communicate details to our soccer community throughout the spring season in hopes that you can start obtaining pledges over the summer to help make this year's game a record high in funds raised.

The day began at 9am and ended at 10pm. The adults went into the last game with the White team ahead by 2 goals. They tried to close the gap but could only close it by 1 goal which wasn't enough to take the Soccer Marathon Cup for 2009.
Special Thanks to the High School Boys team for playing during the noon hour, the Boston Breakers and NE Revolution for providing player appearances, Best Buy for providing volunteers for the day, Marathon Physical Therapy and Fitness Together for their participation through out the day, Pub 99 for providing hamburgers and hot dogs for the noon hour, Mocking Bird Music for providing the sound system.
The event flowed smoothly thanks so many volunteers. We thank you for your time and support. We could not have done it without such a strong family membership !

What is a SoccerMarathon?
Two teams (Green Hornets and White Hornets) made up of various age groups competing in a 15 hour continuous soccer game. Score will be accumulated each hour. The winner of the overall game will be the team with the highest accumulated score.
Not Just Soccer ?
May 16th at the H.S. Alumni turf field will be much more than just playing soccer. There will be a kick off ceremony, award ceremonies after all games, face painting, tattoos, music to keep the teams hoping, radar gun kicking contests, raffles, concessions, juggling for patches and special guest from the N.E. Revolution. Even if you do not play soccer stop by and support the game and enjoy the fun activities.

How Do I participate in the Soccer Marathon ? 
Registration
The cost per player is $20(tee shirt/award included). Each player has been asked to obtain pledges per hours of soccer played with a goal of accumulating $75. (example: 15 hour game $2 per game played = $30 pledge). There is no need to register a team, each registration is separate and will be placed randomly on an appropriate aged team. Send off this <attached letter> requesting pledges via email or direct mail, please be sure to personalize it. Pledges will be collected, team assigned and tee shirts distributed during registration AT THE game.
What can I do?
VOLUNTEER! Contact Kelly Kemp if you would like to volunteer behind the scenes or day of the event. Similar to the picnic/jamboree many volunteers are needed to run smoothly. Print a copy of the needed help <go to volunteer list...>
