 Game name HEADS AND TAILS

Organization / area - half of a small field (25x15)  The Zoo.

Number of players / balls - a ball each

Activity description  -All players are animals and need to stay inside the zoo.  Can use different animals to vary speeds (cheetah, elephant etc).

Progressions

1  on coaches command of “heads” the players must stop the ball with their foot and then place their head on the ball.  “Tails” indicates that they stop the ball with their foot and then sit on the ball.  Additional commands can be “belly”, “back”, “ear”.

2.  to increase the difficulty and fun play you can play “opposites”  where “heads=tails” and “tails=heads”.

2.  Fun Stretching

Game/Exercise

Game name SPEEDWAY

Organization / area   -  set up 2 boxes (5x5 yds) at least 10 yds apart.  Zone A and zone B.

Number of players / balls - ball each

Activity description - Split groups into 2 “speed teams”.  On coaches command A’s dribble to B’s area and B’s dribble to A’s area.  1st group with whole team across scores a point.

Progressions

Use one foot only.

Use other foot.

Dribble across, do a fun activity (3 muppet jumps) and dribble back.

Whole team must wave to coach once in the other team area.  Use your imagination to add fun activities/incentives.

3.   End with Game  (20 mins)

3 v 3 dual sided - split teams 3 player on the A field and 3 player on the B field.  Subs sit in the middle of the fields.  Parents sit on the outside of the fields.   Coaches can be on the field encouraging players but please refrain from shouting instructions.   Just let them play !

4.   Don't forget the Team Cheer !
